We design and make award-winning bespoke furniture.
If it can be made in wood, we can probably make it for you, and even if it can't — well let's just say we like a challenge!
Over the last 30+ years we have made everything from jewellery boxes to Cathedral furniture with a few detours for unusual projects like F1 engine part replicas along the way!
We are experienced and time-served craftsmen through and through, but have always experimented with our craft. Somewhere along the way we got interested in digital CAD/CAM technology too, and the result is a workshop with one foot firmly rooted in craft traditions, and one stepping out into the future.
We design to the brief set by our clients, individual pieces of furniture that will be a pleasure to own and give us the same feeling to make.
We design with the long term very much in mind for every piece. It's always good to hear a client say 'Wow!' when they first see the piece that they have commissioned, but even better when they tell us that it still gives them the same pleasure ten years later.
Both our designing and making are sensitive to the materials we use. We place great emphasis on fitness for purpose and the the appropriateness of a piece to its setting. Of prime importance in any design is it's function; beautiful form at the expense of function is ultimately disappointing for the client, and for us. Our aim is to offer a sincere and honest approach to craftsmanship and design.
The direction of a bespoke commission depends on the client. Some have very definite ideas on the direction of design, others prefer the surprise and excitement of an open brief. We take great pleasure in designing and making all kinds of furniture, even the challenge of the seemingly impossible!
Our commitment to producing pieces of exceptional quality that grace and complement their surroundings, make us an excellent fit for ecclesiastical schemes and standalone pieces.
We understand the unique considerations involved in working on church projects: from the different stages of committee-based decision making, to balancing the creation of something special with the liturgical, heritage and bugetary aspects of a brief.
As well as cathedral schemes, we have also designed and made smaller items for chapels and churches. Our workshop has the expertise to produce a wide range of ecclesiastical furniture ranging from display screens, commemorative seating and communion rails to pews, altars and lecterns.
We design and make kitchens, fitted furniture and interior projects including staircases. We apply the same meticulous attention to detail through the design, making and installation of interior and architectural projects as we do with any of our work.
We also offer a full service to architects and interior designers who require a special one-off piece or a small batch run as part of a larger interior design project.
Our skill and experience in designing, solving problems, developing ideas and making, allow us to work from any starting point, whether clean sheet, rough sketch, or full working drawings. Whatever the project, our commitment is to quality and to providing a flexible and helpful service.
We have been using CNC machining as part of our approach to our furniture creation since 2007, and now have a significant part of the business dedicated to CNC machining as a sub-contracting service.
We provide machining solutions to artists, designers, furniture makers, interior specifiers and fabricators in a diverse range of design areas. We offer everything from a standalone cutting service of 2D shapes, to a fully project-managed CAD design service, with 3D shaping and assembly.
Our background in high quality furniture design and cabinet making, means that we have all the facilities of a fully equipped cabinet making workshop. We are building a reputation as specialists in solid wood CNC machining, and enjoy undertaking some of the most challenging work in this area.
